Release of the Ministry of Health’s Health of the Health Workforce 2015 this month includes information about the Kaiāwhina workforce and its role in supporting New Zealand’s health and disability workforce.
The report builds on previous work to help raise understanding of the issues facing this workforce and contributes to the development of strategies and programmes to make improvements in the sector.
The report outlines key facts and trends and includes a snapshot headcount of the regulated and non-regulated Kaiāwhina workforce. It also talks about the percentage of the home and community support service workers who hold a recorded qualification. The report also lists the Kaiāwhina professions across professional, support and carer roles.
